Oh no! Not another new keyboard?
It seems that every time a new PC and/or laptop rears its ugly head, you need to learn a new keyboard configuration. Well, as a JAWS user, you have the upper hand when it comes to exploring your keyboard environment.
Want to learn where your keys on your keyboard are without interruptions? Press JAWS Key+1 and type away! Almost all keys will be voiced for you. This is also a good way to find out what a JAWS key combination will do before trying it in real time. For example, try pressing JAWSKEY+F12. You should get an explanation of what that key does.
Keyboard help mode is a toggle key which means you press the same combination to bring back normal key function. Try it now, you should hear:
"Keyboard help on". Press it again and you should hear "keyboard Help Off".
Key Learn is turned on and off with the key combination JAWSKEY+1
On most keyboards, the JAWSKEY takes over the insert keys. This is found on the bottom left of your keypad. On laptops, the CAPS LOCK key doubles as your JAWSKEY.
