As you probably know, we came third in our heat today. We raced against GB, USA, Ireland, France and Belarus. The stadium was packed and the noise coming out of the stands was incredible!
GB came first and USA was second. We weren't sure what to expect from the USA because they have a new team member who actually rowed on their able-bodied National Team but just found out that he qualifies for paralympic rowing because he has a club foot.
So they are fast, but we have some areas we can definitely improve for tomorrow so we should be faster than today.
Tomorrow the top two teams from each heat go through to the final so tomorrow has to be solid.
It was good to get out some of the nerves today, I was pretty worried about the noise coming from the grandstand because I rely so much on my hearing for keeping time, I was afraid it might drown out my cues. Today was manageable but I know the final will be much louder...
We had a chance to meet up with our friends and family after the race which was really nice, but only briefly because we had a bus to catch back to the village. We spent the afternoon resting and just finished our team meeting for how the morning will run tomorrow.
We race at 11:30 tomorrow which is 6:30 Toronto time.
My apologies about the link, I heard it did not have coverage of rowing. I assume they will on the day of the final.
