This year, CNIB is hosting its second annual CNIB Night Steps fundraising event – a fun and easy walk under the stars – in six cities across Canada. Proceeds from the event will support CNIB’s vital services, such as learning independent travel using a white cane and empowering Canadians who are blind or partially sighted to travel with confidence.
Night Steps got its’ start in 2012 with a pilot walk that was held in London, Ont. More than 170 people walked and the event raised over $40,000 for CNIB programs and services in London. Not bad for the first year, right?
CNIB has since been building on the success of the pilot event and in Year 2 brought Night Steps to five cities in Canada – Mississauga, Toronto, London, Winnipeg and Fraser Valley – and welcomed hundreds of people for a walk under the stars lit only by the fun glow items handed out before the sun set!

This year we had to change it up; visit other cities. In 2014, Night Steps will be revisiting three old favourites - London, Winnipeg and Fraser Valley – and three new cities: Regina, Sask., Whitby, Ont. and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ont. We hope to see you there!
It’ll be a celebration with music and entertainment for family, friends and members of your community. All funds raised support CNIB’s vital services and taking part is so easy! Sign up as an individual or as a team and set your own fundraising goal. Have fun with it and don’t worry, we’ll help you out along the way. Once you’re registered we’ll help make fundraising simple and FUN with expert tips and tricks. Plus, you’ll receive a glow-in-the-dark party favour to help brighten the night! Join us; sign up for a walk near you today!
No Night Steps event in your area? Become a “virtual” walker! Night Steps virtual walkers register and fundraise exactly the same way as participants at the other Night Steps locations, and the money you raise goes directly to supporting your local community. Then, on a date in September that works for you, walk around your block or to your local park, wherever in your community you like, as you help raise funds to support CNIB’s vital services. We’ll even send you a t-shirt!
